Start ’em young, Start ’em early

Santa brought us a couple of sit on kayaks for Christmas.

My daughter Annie is 9.

So we decided to get her comfortable on the kayak in our swimming pool.
Initially we let her sit on it and paddle up and down the pool but after a while I explained to her that she needs to be able to get back on the kayak if she falls off it in the water.

To cut a long story short, we had her jump off the kayak and get back in, flip the kayak over and try to get it upright again and retrieve a lost paddle.

All skills that she might (hopefully) never have to use but will have if she ever needs them.

Never too early to start teaching life skills.
