Woody the Safety Bloke bought a new car.
But can he take it for a test drive?
Hi everyone, Woody again, hey look at this, my new little toy, I’ve been looking for one of them for a while so it’s my next little project and I’ll do a little bits and pieces to it over the next little bit of time but I went over this morning to have a look at it for the first time, I’d seen some photos on the computer and talk to the owner a couple of times so agreed to buy it, went across and he opened the garage and I saw it in the garage and I said yep that’s cool, nice and I said to him I said, look can we go for a drive and the owner said yeah no problems at all and he actually gave me the keys expecting me to drive it and I said to this bloke I said mate, I said, I can’t drive it, I need to use a set of hand controls and this car doesn’t have hand controls fitted so I had to ask him to take me for a test drive in his car.
Now just have a think about that, I mean most of us when we buy a new car, the first thing we do is take it for a bit of a test drive. I can’t do that, I’ve got a book this thing in there probably about two weeks before I can get it in to get a set of hand controls fitted and the costs to get the hand controls fitted is between 1,500 and 3,000 dollars so you know just think about that.
We could go out, me and you could go out tomorrow and buy a new car but on top of the price that I pay, I’ve got to find $1,500 to $3,000 to get it modified so I can drive it. So yep, just another way that life in a wheelchair sucks, don’t hurt yourself, stay safe Australia.
