Woody’s Words – Week 21 – Paying People to do Things

Woody's Words

Woody the Safety Bloke talks about having to pay people to do things he can’t do anymore.

Good day everyone, Woody again, hey one of the things I used to really enjoy before I had my accident was playing with my cars and on a weekend I’d like to wash my car or my motorbike, you know, I know most people hate washing the car or hate washing their bikes but it was something that I used to really enjoy, you know, I take a lot of time and put a bit of effort into it, make it look good but you know when you get hurt, there’s some things that you just can’t do the same as you used to be able to do.

I mean, I can wash your car, it’s a lot harder for me. I’ve got to lift myself in and out of the other car, I can’t reach the roof and the high parts of the car so I actually have to, well I don’t have to do but I find it a lot easier to get somebody to do it for me so I’ve got a local car cleaner that comes and washes the cars.

Look, don’t get me wrong, I love to spend a bit of time and be able to do it myself but I just can’t do the same job that these guys can do and it’s not just washing the cars, there’s a lot of other things that I used to be able to do that I just can’t physically do.

I mean, I’ve got a bloke that comes around a couple of times a month to clean my gutters, you know, I have to pay people to do these things so you know there’s a lot of things that you just don’t think about that come into play when you get hurt.

Don’t hurt yourselves people, you know, the physical side of it is one thing, the mental side of it’s another and the cost of some of these things is another factor that adds into it, so take care people, stay safe Australia.
