A few years ago I watched the Queen deliver her annual Christmas message, which she started off by saying the year was Annus Horribilis.
Which basically meant she had had a shit year!
Fergie and Andrew split up and then Fergie got caught sucking some blokes toes, Diana released a book with some scandal in it and Windsor Castle caught fire.
Well I reckon I’ve just had my own version of Annus Horribilis.
For a start I still can’t walk! Even 30 years after my accident I still hold out some small amount of hope that I will wake up one day and be able to walk, or they will find a cure for spinal cord injury…. But not yet!
Covid…. F*#K Covid!
I’ve spent 9 months at home because I can’t travel, I’ve lost 9 months of income, I went through the Victorian 2nd lockdown, I was only allowed out of the house for 1 hour per day and could not travel more than 5km from home. It was shit!
My grandson doesn’t know me. He was born in May, and due to COVID restrictions I’ve only seen him 3 times since he was born, I’ve missed out on 7 months of his life!
My dog is sick of me! I used to travel often and he was so happy when I came home. In the last 9 months we have spent much more time together. He looks at me now and his tail doesn’t even wag!
But in all seriousness it’s been a year many of us will be glad to see the back of.
I hope your Horrible Year is over and this Christmas is a great one for you and your family and friends.
